Happy 2018 everyone!

I'd like to wish all my family, friends, sponsors and supporters a wonderful year ahead.

As I have mentioned in a previous post, 2017 will be remembered as a transition year. The end of my secondary education, marking the culmination of my childhood, and all the wonderful twists and turns associated with growing up. The beginning of a new and exciting chapter in my life that remains unwritten but is full of so many dreams and ambitions. And what a great way to start!

New Year's Eve provided some much needed rest and recreation, with our coaches allowing us a few days off to take stock, recover and rest up for the next intensive phase of our training, beginning in earnest tomorrow. Several of us took the opportunity to see in the New Year at a Music Festival, another new experience for me, and a great way to let off some steam and dance the night away. We were all well behaved, knowing what is ahead, and a fun time was had by all. We are fired up, refreshed and ready to get started!

I'll keep this post short as there is still a lot to do before the morning and I want to make sure I get an early night. We are now based out of Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and I look forward to updating you on my training and activities at the end of the week. We are due to start match racing soon, something that I haven't had a lot of experience in, so it is sure to be interesting.

As always, thanks for your interest and support. I hope you've all had a safe New Year's Eve. Enjoy the rest of the holidays!
