Today I am heading to Tullamarine Airport on my way to Auckland, New Zealand to mark the start of my journey.... and the end of another!
And what a year it has been. Who would have thought a few short months ago that I would find myself with such an opportunity to embrace my passion for sailing in such a wonderful way. At the start of this year my only thoughts were completing my VCE exams, sailing the 49er with good friend Tom Alexander and living the trials and tribulations of a typical 18 year old. A few short months later I find myself here, at the airport, about to embark on one of life's great adventures.
I have already covered in some detail exactly what the International Foiling Camp is all about and I won't repeat myself here but I do want to take this opportunity to thank all those who have got me here and made it all possible.
First and foremost, I wish to thank my family for introducing me to this wonderful sport, the many sacrifices that they have made in allowing me to indulge my passion and their constant and ongoing support. In addition, I would like to thank my "corporate companions" BBQs Plus; Doyle Sails; Horner; Sanctuary Lakes Foundation and the Sunshine & Western Region Sports Club. Finally, I would like to acknowledge and thank the Committee and Members of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club.
Only a lucky few get the opportunity to follow their dreams in life and I shall be forever grateful for the support shown by so many to allow me to pursue mine. I look forward to updating you all on my adventure whenever time permits and shall endeavour to represent you all to the best of my ability.
I wish you a safe and restful Christmas with family and friends. Stay tuned for more updates....
